What is Solar ATAP?

Malaysia’s official rooftop solar scheme — in effect since 1 January 2026

Solar ATAP (Accelerated Transition Action Programme) lets homeowners generate their own solar power and get credited for surplus energy they send back to the grid. It’s cost-neutral — no subsidies, no complicated payouts, just clean energy that offsets your bill.

Use your own power first

Your panels power your home in real time, cutting what you draw from TNB.

Earn monthly credits

Surplus energy you export is credited on your bill each month at the energy rate.

One simple meter

A single bi-directional meter measures what you use and what you send back.

Up to a 10-year contract

A clear, fixed agreement with TNB — applied for easily online via eATAP.

How the savings flow

Every ray of sunshine has a job to do

  1. 1

    Self-consume

Your home uses the solar power as it’s generated — the biggest, most direct saving.

  2. 2

    Export the surplus

Extra energy you don’t use flows back to the grid through your bi-directional meter.

  3. 3

    Get monthly credits

That surplus appears as an energy credit on your next bill. Credits reset monthly, so a right-sized system makes the most of every ringgit.
